The government today recommends that all youth must master at least one type of martial arts. On celebrating National Youth Day 2010 begins today until Sunday at Putrajaya, the government hopes the youth in the country to be abble to protect themselves.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Dato 'Razali Ibrahim said the issue was in line with current life style which is today daily life is full of suspicion and narrow minded people. Martial arts is the solution for the youth to overcome all these challenges.

"We will start at the school level. Therefore, I will bring this idea to the cabinet meeting where we need cooperation with the Ministry of Education," he said proudly.

In February, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has made compulsory to all students to participate at least one sports activity to restore the golden age of sports and produce more young athletes. This idea will be implemented next year.

Immediately after the Tan Sri Muhyiddin's idea been explained to Dato 'Razali, he said the youth ministry will not be in a hurry to implement them. This matter will be implement in another two years.

"The government itself has been targeted to force one agenda only each one year towards our students. So we have time to plan."

Asked whether this has to do with security issue involving the 15-year-old youth that was shot dead recently by the authorities, the Deputy Minister refused to comment further.
